Measures the indoor air temperature, inside surface temperature of envelope, surface temperature of thermal mass and energy consumption of the intermittent heating room in an artificial climate chamber. Presents the concept of effective energy consumption (EEC), and measures and analyses its influencing factors. The results show that the proportion of EEC in the total energy consumption is decreased by the heat gain of the thermal mass in the whole heating process. The heating power, air temperature difference between indoor and outdoor and length of heating time have different impacts on the decrease rate of total EEC in the air temperature rising period and the proportion when invalid energy consumption in the period when stable air temperature.
